Detailed Information
The Flower Expo Memorial Park Tsurumi Ryokuchi is a large urban park spanning approximately 123 hectares, located just a short walk from the "Tsurumi Ryokuchi" station on the Osaka Metro Nagahori Tsurumi Ryokuchi Line. Established as a wide-area park in 1972 and significantly developed for the EXPO '90 "International Flower and Greenery Expo," it is now widely loved as one of the premier relaxation spots in Osaka, bearing the name "Hanabaku."
At the center of the park is a large pond where migratory birds rest, surrounded by a variety of facilities. The "Sakuya Konohanakan," which displays over 2,600 species and 15,000 plants from around the world in its greenhouse, allows visitors to appreciate plants from tropical to alpine regions throughout the year. Other notable attractions include the "Japanese Garden" featuring an authentic tea house, the "International Garden" that replicates various national garden styles, a rose garden with about 400 varieties and 1,900 plants blooming in spring, and the "Windmill Hill," where seasonal flowers bloom against the backdrop of a windmill.
The park is also equipped with recreational and sports facilities, including a barbecue area and a campsite adjacent to the lawn area, both popular among outdoor enthusiasts. In addition to park golf courses, horseback riding areas, sports fields, tennis courts, and a heated swimming pool, a multipurpose hall named "Hanamizuki Hall (Tsurumi Sports Center)" is available for exhibitions, light exercise, and lectures. Moreover, the "Nature Experience Observation Garden," which has restored satoyama and terraced rice fields, offers opportunities for environmental education.
Entrance to the park is free, except for the "Sakuya Konohanakan" and some sports facilities. Various seasonal events, including flower festivals, markets, and marathons, are held regularly. With its seasonal flowers, beautiful natural environment, and hands-on facilities, the Flower Expo Memorial Park Tsurumi Ryokuchi is a comprehensive leisure spot in the eastern part of Osaka, appealing to families, nature lovers, and sports enthusiasts of all ages.
