Detailed Information
Hokko Memorial Park Tsurumi Ryokuchi is a large urban park covering approximately 123 hectares, located just a short walk from Tsurumi Ryokuchi Station on the Osaka Metro Nagahori Tsurumi-ryokuchi Line. Opened in 1972 as a regional park, it was extensively developed for EXPO ’90, the International Garden and Greenery Exposition, and is now widely loved as one of Osaka City’s premier places to relax, bearing the name “Hanahaku” from that event.
At the center of the park is a large pond where migratory birds rest, and a variety of facilities are scattered around it. At Sakuyakonohana Kan, a greenhouse displaying more than 2,600 species and 15,000 plants from around the world, visitors can enjoy plants from tropical to alpine regions throughout the year. Other highlights include the Japanese Garden with a fully equipped tea house, the International Garden recreating garden styles from various countries, a rose garden where about 400 varieties and 1,900 roses bloom in spring, and Windmill Hill, where seasonal flowers bloom against the backdrop of a windmill. The park offers an abundance of spots devoted to flowers and greenery.
It is also well equipped with recreational and sports facilities, and the barbecue area and campsite next to the lawn plaza are popular among outdoor enthusiasts. The park includes a range of athletic facilities such as a park golf course, equestrian center, ball games field, tennis courts, and a heated pool, as well as Hanamizuki Hall (Tsurumi Sports Center), a multipurpose hall used for exhibitions, light exercise, lectures, and more. In the Nature Experience Observation Garden, where satoyama landscapes and terraced rice fields have been restored, visitors can also enjoy environmental learning opportunities.
Admission is free except for Sakuyakonohana Kan and some sports facilities, and a variety of events such as seasonal flower festivals, markets, and marathons are held throughout the year. With its seasonal flowers, beautiful natural surroundings, and hands-on facilities, Hokko Memorial Park Tsurumi Ryokuchi is a comprehensive leisure destination in eastern Osaka that is supported by a wide range of visitors, from families and nature lovers to those who enjoy sports.
