Detailed Information
Osaka Castle Park is a vast urban park with an area of approximately 105.6 hectares, located in the heart of Osaka City. It is a historical space that includes the nationally designated special historic site "Osaka Castle Ruins." At the center of the park stands the magnificent "Osaka Castle Main Tower," built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, which features a 5-story exterior and an 8-story interior that is open to the public as a history museum. Inside, valuable materials related to Hideyoshi's life and the unification of Japan are displayed, and visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Osaka city from the observation deck, approximately 50 meters above the ground.
The park is dotted with 13 important cultural properties, such as the Otemon Gate and the Senkan Yagura, which were built during the Edo period, providing opportunities to experience history throughout the area. In spring, around 3,000 cherry blossom trees bloom beautifully, especially in the "Nishi-no-Maru Garden," where about 300 Somei Yoshino cherry trees create a stunning landscape. The plum grove features approximately 105 varieties and 1,245 plum trees, making it a charming spot to enjoy seasonal flowers.
The park also boasts cultural facilities like the "Osaka Castle Hall," which can accommodate 16,000 people, and the "Osaka Castle Music Hall," where various events are held throughout the year. In 2019, the theater complex "COOL JAPAN PARK OSAKA" was established, introducing new forms of entertainment such as plays and live performances.
Additionally, complex facilities like "Mirai-Za Osaka Castle" and "JO-TERRACE OSAKA" offer dining and souvenirs, making it a place that combines tourism and relaxation. The park includes sports facilities such as a baseball stadium, archery range, and martial arts dojo "Shudokan," and in 2021, the "Osaka Castle Run & Walk Course" was renovated, providing an ideal environment for running and strolling.
Osaka Castle Park is cherished by both locals and tourists as an oasis in the city that integrates history, nature, culture, and sports.
