Detailed Information
SHIBUYA SKY is one of Japan's premier large-scale observation facilities, spanning multiple floors from the 14th to the 47th floor of Shibuya Scramble Square. The rooftop observation area, "SKY STAGE," is situated at a height of 229 meters above ground and offers a captivating 360-degree panoramic view that includes the Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo Tower, and on clear days, even Mount Fuji. In addition to the exhilarating open-air experience, at night, a fantastical light show called "CROSSING LIGHT" enhances the city’s nightscape in an impressive way.
On the 46th floor, the indoor observation corridor "SKY GALLERY" features interactive content that utilizes cutting-edge imaging technology and art displays related to Shibuya. Additionally, the transitional space "SKY GATE," which leads from the 14th to the 46th floor, immerses visitors in a world of extraordinary experiences through a combination of visuals, 3D sound, and light.
The facility is also equipped with Instagrammable spots, including a glass-walled escalator with the Shibuya skyline in the background and a popular photo spot located at the edge of the observation deck known as the Sky Edge. Professional photography services are available as well.
Moreover, the rooftop bar "THE ROOF SHIBUYA SKY," which operates for a limited time, allows guests to enjoy drinks and light snacks alongside the night views, creating a special moment. Exclusive merchandise available at the souvenir shop on the 46th floor makes for perfect souvenirs.
Operating hours are from 10:00 AM to 10:30 PM (final entry at 9:20 PM), and generally, there is no stay duration limit. However, during peak times, stay durations may be restricted. Entry just 30 minutes before sunset is particularly popular, but due to anticipated crowds, advance reservations are recommended. Visiting on clear days is ideal, but please be aware that the rooftop may be closed due to strong winds or bad weather.
Shibuya Sky has been developed to inherit the cultural role once held by the planetarium that was located in front of the station, aiming to be a space that "stimulates imagination and fosters intellectual curiosity." It offers a unique and irreplaceable observation experience, allowing visitors to reflect on their perspectives while overlooking the history and future of the city of Shibuya.
