Tsutenkaku Tower

Tsutenkaku, a symbol of Osaka, was built in 1912 as part of Luna Park. The original Tsutenkaku stood at 75 meters tall, boasting the title of "the tallest in the East" at the time, but was dismantled after a fire in 1943. In response to the strong wishes of local residents, the second Tsutenkaku was constructed in 1956. This modern version of Tsutenkaku is 108 meters tall and was designed by Tachū Naito, who also worked on Tokyo Tower.

The charm of Tsutenkaku lies in its diversity. Inside the tower, there are four observation decks, each with its own unique theme, such as the "Light Observation Deck" and the "Golden Observation Deck". The "Golden Observation Deck" is particularly worth a visit, as it features the beloved Billiken statue, which is cherished by the people of Osaka. It is said that rubbing the soles of his feet brings good fortune, making it a must-see spot for tourists.

Tsutenkaku continues to evolve, with new attractions such as a special outdoor observation deck and a tower slide being added. This tower, which blends history and modernity, is a landmark that any visitor to Osaka should not miss. With a history of approximately 110 years, this tower symbolizes the multifaceted nature of Osaka, where the charm of old Japan intertwines with the contemporary.
