Detailed Information
A Historic Amusement Park Popular Throughout the Kansai Area
Hirakata Park, affectionately known as “Hira-Pa,” is one of the Kansai region’s most popular amusement parks, located in Hirakata City, Osaka Prefecture. With easy access—just about a 3-minute walk from Keihan Railway’s Hirakatakoen Station—it is beloved by many families and tourists as an attraction in one of Osaka’s commuter towns.
History and Overview
Opened in 1910, Hirakata Park is one of Japan’s oldest amusement parks and has been in operation for over 100 years. Throughout its long history, it has undergone numerous renovations and has grown into a comprehensive leisure facility with a wide variety of attractions for all generations.
Attractions
The park features more than 40 attractions, offering something for everyone, from thrill-seekers to small children.
Wooden Coaster “Elf”
This coaster is famous for the creaking sounds and unique swaying that only a wooden coaster can offer. While it delivers a lively sense of speed, it also has the reassuring warmth of wood, making it a thrilling attraction that families can enjoy.
“Red Falcon”
A powerful roller coaster stretching about 1,300 meters with a top speed of 70 km/h. Its dynamic course, racing across and through the park, is especially popular.
“Sky Walker” (Ferris Wheel)
This giant Ferris wheel rises to about 80 meters above ground, offering a roughly 10-minute aerial stroll with sweeping views of Osaka, Kyoto, and beyond. (*Please check the official website for the latest operating information.)
“Super Shooting Ride Monster x Heroes 3D”
A ride-based shooting game synchronized with 3D visuals, popular with both children and adults. (*Some attractions may operate only for limited periods.)
“Head-Style Athletic Yatte Mi-na”
An educational athletic course that challenges both mind and body. It’s perfect for families to take on together.
In addition, there are many other ways to enjoy the park, including a merry-go-round, athletic courses, and the exploration-style attraction “Magical Volcano.”
Seasonal Events and Facilities
At Hirakata Park, events and facilities change with the seasons, making it a place worth visiting year-round.
Spring and Autumn
Rose Garden: The park’s garden, home to about 400 varieties of roses, is at its best in spring and autumn. Seasonal flowers such as cherry blossoms and chrysanthemums are also well worth seeing.
Halloween Event: In autumn, the entire park takes on a Halloween atmosphere with costume parades, limited-time food, and more.
Summer
Pool “The Boon”: A large pool area open only during the summer season. It features four pools and four types of sliders, including the 210-meter lazy river “Donbura,” the scenic “Siesta,” and the play-equipped “Wampaku Pool,” offering a full day of fun for the whole family.
Water shows and combined park enjoyment: Since guests can leave temporarily while still wearing swimwear, it’s easy to enjoy the attractions after spending time at the pool.
Winter
Winter Carnival (Ice Skating Rink): An outdoor skating rink that offers a refreshing open-air experience. It includes three areas—“Main Link,” “Sub Link,” and “Baby Link”—so beginners and small children can enjoy it safely.
Snow Area: A snow-play plaza greeted by a giant snowman, along with a huge slider where you can ride a boat down a slope, offers winter fun that you can’t experience in the city.
Illumination: At night, the park is decorated with magical illuminations, creating a romantic atmosphere.
Recommended for Families and Couples
The park also has plazas where visitors can interact with animals and play areas for children, making it especially popular with families. Ferris wheels and the Rose Garden are also perfect for dates, and the park is cherished as an amusement park that can be enjoyed by a wide range of visitors.
