Hiroshima Castle
Hiroshima Castle, known for its beautiful main keep built by Mori Terumoto in 1589, is also referred to as "Rijou" (Carp Castle). After the Battle of Sekigahara, the castle was passed from the lord Fukushima Masanori to the Asano clan, serving as their residence for approximately 250 years. Located at the mouth of the Ota River, Hiroshima Castle is recognized as a typical flatland castle. Although the main keep was destroyed in the atomic bombing, it was restored in 1958 and is now cherished as a museum showcasing the history of Hiroshima and its armor. Additionally, in 1994, the inner bailey was restored, reviving its original appearance.
