Detailed Information
Daisen Makiba Milk no Sato is a tourist and leisure facility located within the Daisen Ranch in Hōki Town, Saihaku District, Tottori Prefecture, and is one of the prefecture’s most popular tourist attractions. Operated by Daisen Dairy Agricultural Cooperative, known nationwide for its White Rose Milk, the facility boasts an exceptional location offering panoramic views of majestic Mount Daisen and the Sea of Japan. Situated on a plateau approximately 600 meters above sea level, its expansive grasslands and grazing dairy cows create a pastoral landscape reminiscent of the Alpine highlands of Europe.
Many dairy cows graze freely around the facility, allowing visitors to observe them up close. The idyllic ranch scenery, set against the ever-changing natural beauty of Mount Daisen throughout the seasons, makes the site popular with families, couples, and photography enthusiasts. On clear days, a spectacular panorama unfolds, with the magnificent Mount Daisen to the south and the Sea of Japan to the north, making it one of Tottori Prefecture’s premier scenic spots.
The facility occasionally holds events such as milking experiences using cow models, dairy-farming activities, and confectionery-making workshops. Visitors can also enjoy fun, educational opportunities to learn about dairy farming and food education. With a variety of events available, the facility offers entertainment for people of all ages, from children to adults.
The signature attraction of Daisen Makiba Milk no Sato is its “Special Soft-Serve Ice Cream.” Made with a generous amount of White Rose Milk, it is known for its rich flavor and smooth texture. Its full-bodied milk taste is so pronounced that it is sometimes described as “milk you can eat.” As many as 4,000 to 5,000 servings may be sold in a single day, making it a hugely popular product that draws many visitors. It is widely cherished as one of the facility’s most iconic gourmet offerings.
The on-site restaurant serves dishes made generously with its finest dairy products, including milk, yogurt, butter, and fresh cream. The menu also features a wide range of dishes prepared with Tottori beef, locally grown vegetables, and seasonal ingredients, allowing guests to enjoy meals centered on local production and consumption. The cuisine, which makes the most of the appeal of dairy products, is popular with people of all generations.
At the barbecue cabins, visitors can enjoy Tottori beef, sausages, and other foods while taking in the open, sweeping views of the plateau on operating days. Dining amid the grandeur of nature is a special experience, and the opportunity to enjoy both sightseeing and local cuisine is one of the facility’s greatest attractions.
The shop sells White Rose Milk, yogurt, cheese, butter, and other dairy products, as well as specialties from the Daisen area and original products. It is an ideal place to find souvenirs and mementos of your visit.
In addition, Daisen Makiba Milk no Sato underwent extensive renovation work beginning in autumn 2025 and reopened on April 18, 2026. Following the largest-scale renovation since its opening, the shop and restaurant were completely renewed, adding a range of new attractions.
After the reopening, a takeout area for the new “DAISEN MILK” brand was introduced. Visitors can casually enjoy drinks, smoothies, light meals, and more, all made with White Rose Milk. In particular, the “Daisen Sandwich,” filled with Tottori beef and a fried egg, has attracted attention as a hearty and popular menu item.
A concept shop showcasing the appeal of the White Rose Milk brand has also been added inside the facility. The warm, inviting space makes extensive use of locally produced timber and incorporates White Rose Milk’s retro packaging designs, allowing visitors to experience the brand’s distinctive world.
Daisen Makiba Milk no Sato offers a diverse range of attractions, including beautiful natural scenery, encounters with grazing livestock, dairy-farming experiences, cuisine made with local ingredients, and its popular Special Soft-Serve Ice Cream. With close-up views of the majestic Mount Daisen, it is a beloved destination where visitors can fully enjoy Tottori’s abundant natural beauty and culinary offerings.
