Towada Art Center

Towada Art Center

Towada Art Center is the centerpiece of the "Arts Towada" project, located on the city's symbolic road, the Government Street. This museum envisions the entire street as a single art space, showcasing a diverse range of art works both indoors and outdoors. It features permanent exhibitions of works by globally acclaimed artists such as Yayoi Kusama and Ron Mueck, allowing visitors to enjoy art in an open and inviting environment. The museum is filled with engaging public art and sculptures that can also be used as benches, blending everyday life with art seamlessly. Opened in 2010, "Arts Towada" has positioned Towada City as a uniquely artistic town, captivating many visitors. In 2021, new works and exhibition spaces were added, showcasing pieces by Chiharu Shiota, Kohei Nawa, and Leandro Erlich. The new experiences at the museum offer visitors inspiration and surprise, allowing them to enjoy the beautiful nature and history of Towada City alongside its art.
