Detailed Information
The "Aomori Gyosai Center" is a market with more than 40 years of history, located just a five-minute walk from JR Aomori Station. Locally known as "Furukawa Market," it is a popular destination not only for local residents but also for tourists visiting from across the country. Overlooking Aomori Bay, this market features about 30 shops, offering a diverse range of products including fresh seafood, meat, prepared dishes, and local processed foods unique to Aomori.
The biggest attraction of this market is the "Nokke-don," where you can create your own seafood bowl. Visitors can purchase a special "Nokke-don meal ticket" at the information center, which can be exchanged for a bowl of rice at a designated restaurant with a red sign. Then, while exploring the various shops in the market, you can exchange it for your favorite ingredients such as sashimi, grilled rolled omelet, side dishes, and meats. You can freely combine flavors unique to Aomori, such as freshly caught scallops and seasonal seafood from Mutsu Bay, along with handmade side dishes from local vendors, fulfilling your desire to "try a little bit of everything" or "enjoy both seafood and meat together."
Once your original bowl is complete, you can savor it slowly at the seating area in the market (take-out is not allowed for hygiene reasons). However, if you purchase sashimi from the fish shop, you can have it packaged for take-out. Additionally, there is a wide variety of Aomori-themed processed foods and souvenirs available, making it enjoyable even for shopping purposes.
While there is no dedicated parking lot, there are many coin-operated parking facilities nearby, making it convenient for those visiting by car. The "Aomori Gyosai Center," where you can customize fresh Aomori flavors to your liking, is a captivating tourist spot that offers the joy of food and the bustle of the market all in one experience.
