宇佐神宮

Usajingu Shrine

Usa Jingu is a famous shrine recognized as the head shrine of the approximately 40,000 Hachiman shrines across Japan. It was founded in 725 when the main hall dedicated to Emperor Ojin, known as the Ichinomiya Goten, was established. The shrine features the main hall in the unique Hachiman style, which is designated as a National Treasure, along with other historical buildings such as the sacred bridge, the Kurogane bridge, and the Noh theater, all set within a sacred space enveloped by ancient primeval forests. Additionally, power spots such as the 800-year-old sacred tree and the "Couple Stones" attract many visitors who come to pray for love, fulfillment, and protection from misfortune.
