Kinrinko
Kinrin Lake is a representative tourist spot in Yufuin, Oita Prefecture. It was named by the Confucian scholar Mouri Kukou during the Meiji era because the fish scales shimmer gold when illuminated by the sunset. The lake receives flows of clear spring water and hot springs, maintaining a high water temperature year-round. Especially during early mornings in autumn and winter, the steam rising from the lake creates a fantastical sight. There are well-maintained walking paths around the lake where visitors can enjoy the beauty of nature throughout the seasons. At the lakeshore, there is a torii gate that exudes a mysterious atmosphere, which can be visited alongside the Tenso Shrine.
