Oita Marine Palace Aquarium "Umitemago"

Oita Marine Palace Aquarium "Umitamago," located midway between Oita City and Beppu City, is a modern aquarium set against the stunning backdrop of Beppu Bay. The two-story semi-open facility features a large exhibition tank that recreates the rias coastline of southern Oita Prefecture, home to around 90 species and 1,500 fish from the Bungo Channel. In the indoor Wonder Zone, visitors can enjoy illuminated cutlassfish and colorful jellyfish. The outdoor area is popular for its performances featuring walruses and seals, and after the "Umitama Performance," visitors have the chance to interact with the walruses. In the touch pool, guests can get close to stingrays and starfish, and special events are held during Golden Week and summer vacation.
