Uwajima Castle
Uwajima Castle is one of the 12 existing tenshu (castle keeps) and was built by Date Munenori as a stronghold. Facing Uwajima Bay, it features an irregular pentagonal layout. The massive stone walls and steep stone steps reflect its historic significance, and at the summit stands the three-story tenshu. Inside the tenshu, one can feel the warmth of the wood, and from there, a panoramic view of Uwajima Bay and the town can be enjoyed.
