Kumano San Ishiteji
Ishiteji Temple is the 51st temple of the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage, located near Dogo Onsen. It features important cultural properties including the National Treasure Niomon Gate, the Main Hall, the Bell Tower, and the Five-Ringed Stupa, along with attractions like the Treasure Hall, Mantra Cave, and the Inner Sanctuary. The name of the temple is derived from the legend of "Emon Saburo's Return," and it was originally founded as "Anyoji." The temple's layout is characterized by a three-dimensional mandala style that exudes the elegance of the Kamakura period. Notably, there are historically significant structures such as the bronze bell from 1251 and the three-story pagoda from the Kamakura period, providing new discoveries with each visit.
