Chiran Peace Museum
Chiran Peace Museum is located in Minamikyushu City, Kagoshima Prefecture, and serves as a facility to convey the history of the special attack units that launched from Chiran during the late stages of World War II. The museum displays personal belongings, farewell letters, and photographs of the attack pilots, imparting the horrors of war and the importance of peace to visitors. Nearby is Tomie Torihama's "Tomiya Shokudo," known as the "Mother of Special Attack," which is open to the public as a museum. This facility, built to convey the truth of the special attack operations and to express hopes for peace so that such events are never repeated, challenges many to reflect on the "preciousness of life."
