- From JR Sanyo Shinkansen Shin-Kobe Station, it's a 5-minute walk to the Herb Garden Sanroku Station, then take the Kobe Nunobiki Ropeway for 10 minutes and get off at Herb Garden Sancho Station.
Head north on the Hanshin Expressway Kobe Line (Route 3) towards Shin-Kobe Station at the Ikuta River ramp.
Take the Chugoku Expressway or Sanyo Expressway and go south on the Hanshin Expressway Kita-Kobe Line through the Shin-Kobe Tunnel towards Shin-Kobe Station.
The ropeway station is located on the west side of Shin-Kobe Station near the ANA Crowne Plaza Hotel Kobe. - Parking

Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens / Ropeway is a popular resort facility featuring one of Japan’s largest herb gardens, conveniently accessible from central Kobe. From the Sanroku Station, about a five-minute walk from Shin-Kobe Station, you can take the ropeway to the mountaintop and enjoy an approximately 10-minute aerial journey. Through the gondolas’ large windows, you can take in sweeping views of Kobe’s cityscape and harbor, as well as famous landmarks such as Nunobiki Falls, one of Japan’s Top 100 Waterfalls, and the Gohonmatsu Dam. A truly spectacular panoramic view unfolds before you.
At the mountaintop, approximately 400 meters above sea level, lies an expansive garden where around 200 varieties and 75,000 plants of herbs and flowers bloom throughout the seasons. The grounds consist of 12 themed gardens, each offering a different beautiful landscape depending on the time of year, from tulips and roses in spring to lavender and sunflowers in summer, and cosmos flowers in autumn. Another major attraction is the opportunity to enjoy both the beauty of nature and Kobe’s urban scenery at the same time.
The gardens offer much more than leisurely walks. At the restaurant, you can enjoy dishes made with herbs, while The Veranda Kobe, a café lounge with spectacular views, offers an elegant setting where you can relax with original sweets and herbal tea. There are also plenty of activities to enjoy, including relaxing in a hammock, soaking your feet in a herbal foot bath, and making aromatherapy goods. The facility is an ideal place to unwind and enjoy a full day at a leisurely pace.
During limited nighttime operating periods, the enchanting illumination event “Forest of Illuminations” is held alongside Kobe’s dazzling night views, creating a romantic atmosphere quite different from that of the daytime. In autumn, special light-ups are held to coincide with the peak foliage season, usually from early November to early December, allowing visitors to admire the beautiful autumn leaves from the ropeway and observation areas. Christmas markets are also held during the event period, offering an enjoyable taste of European-style festivities.
