Arima Onsen
Arima Onsen is one of Japan's three ancient hot springs and three famous springs, located at the northern foot of Mount Rokko. Historically, it is known for being favored by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and it still retains the charm of an old hot spring town. There are two types of hot springs in this area: the "kin-sen" (golden spring), which is a reddish-brown salty water known for its high antibacterial properties, and the "gin-sen" (silver spring), which is colorless and praised for being gentle on the skin. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities at Arima Onsen, including public baths and a source-hopping experience that allows you to visit seven different springs. Many accommodations also offer day-use bathing options. Additionally, the view from the ropeway that connects Arima Onsen to Mount Rokko is not to be missed. In the dining spots, you can savor local specialties such as croquettes, sweet potato fritters, and gelato, with each shop offering its own unique gourmet treats.
