Sendai Umino-Mori Aquarium

Sendai Umino-Mori Aquarium

Sendai Uminomori Aquarium is one of the largest aquariums in Tohoku, and its charm lies in the dolphin, sea lion, and bird performances held in an open stadium. The absence of acrylic barriers allows visitors to fully enjoy the immersive shows. Inside the aquarium, you can see unique displays of local marine life, such as the Mabo, and the massive tank recreating the Sanriku sea is impressive with "Sparkling of Life," showcasing around 25,000 sardines. In 2022, a new facility for Cape penguins opened, allowing visitors to interact with the penguins. The aquarium also offers various experience programs, a museum shop, and a food court featuring ingredients from the Sanriku region, with around 300 species and 50,000 living creatures on display.
