Nachi Falls
Nachi Falls is a famous spot in Wakayama, recognized as one of Japan's three great waterfalls, boasting a height of 133 meters, a width of 13 meters at the mouth, and a depth of 10 meters in the plunge pool. This majestic waterfall cascades down from the main stream of Mount Oyunotori, cutting through a primeval forest to create a breathtaking sight. The falls have long been revered as the sacred object of worship at the Hongu Shrine of Kumano Nachi Taisha and are also known as "Mikusu no Taki" (The Three Streams Falls). Each year, ceremonies called "Mitaki Shimenawa Barai" are held in July and December, and the falls are illuminated on New Year's Eve. There are also observation decks nearby, allowing visitors to feel the deep history along with the stunning views.
