Seifa Utaki
Seifa Utaki is the most sacred site of the Ryukyu Kingdom and was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the "Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution" in 2000. This is where important ceremonies took place, such as the inauguration of the highest goddess of Ryukyu, Kikoeo Okimi, and the pilgrimage event "Agari Umaai," which prayed for the prosperity of the kingdom and the harvest of the five grains. Seifa Utaki is composed of six sacred areas (Ibi), where the myths and history of Ryukyu are deeply alive. It is recommended to take a guided tour during your visit to gain a deeper understanding of its history and culture.
