Kintaikyo Bridge
One of Japan's three famous bridges, the Kintai Bridge, is a wooden five-arch bridge measuring approximately 193.3 meters in length, located in Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It was originally built in 1673 and underwent renovations for reconstruction in 1674, being maintained for 276 years afterward. Its beautiful five arches (which technically consist of three arches and a curved bridge structure) allow visitors to enjoy the seasonal beauty of cherry blossoms, autumn leaves, and snowy landscapes throughout the year. The bridge's structure, crafted using traditional "wooden joinery" techniques, is so intricate that even modern engineers are amazed by it, and the view from pleasure boats is exceptional. Kintai Bridge continues to be cherished as one of Japan's representative scenic spots.
