Ohara Museum of Art
The Ohara Museum of Art, established in 1930 by Kurashiki businessman Ohara Sozaburo, is Japan's first private Western art museum. It features globally renowned Western masterpieces, including El Greco's "Annunciation," Claude Monet's "Water Lilies," and works by Gauguin and Renoir. The museum houses about 3,000 artworks, including ancient Egyptian art and modern Japanese art. In addition to the main building, there are branch facilities and a craft and eastern art gallery, making it a must-visit spot when exploring the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Area.
