Detailed Information
Shiroi Koibito Park is a chocolate-themed amusement park located in Sapporo, Hokkaido, where both children and adults can have fun. In addition to observing the production process of Hokkaido’s famous confection “Shiroi Koibito” up close, visitors can enjoy exhibits on the history and secrets of chocolate-making, hands-on confectionery experiences, and an English-style garden—making it a destination full of charm that delights all five senses.
Learn by Seeing: Factory Tours and the World of Chocolate
Chocotopia Factory
This facility lets visitors observe the production lines for “Shiroi Koibito” and baumkuchen through glass. Inside the factory, dioramas of characters making chocolate and charming interactive features are placed throughout, so children can enjoy themselves without getting bored.
Chocotopia House
At this facility, whose name means “utopia of chocolate,” visitors can take part in a “Time Travel Tour” with Dr. Julian Dandino Ishimitti, a chocolate-obsessed scientist, and his assistants, the fairies Plumi and Ramuru, as they explore the history of chocolate and the “Four Chocolate Revolutions” (major changes in the production and distribution of chocolate). The Collection Room, which displays the doctor’s treasured items such as a Meissen chocolate cup, is also well worth seeing.
Study Base Cacao Pod
This interactive area uses projection mapping to make learning about cacao and chocolate fun. At the end of the experience, visitors can compare two different kinds of chocolate, deepening their understanding through taste.
Make and Enjoy: Hands-On Experiences
Sweets Workshop Dream Kitchen
A popular activity facility where visitors can bake their own “Shiroi Koibito.” The most popular course is “My Shiroi Koibito Baking Course,” in which you can freely draw pictures or write messages on an approximately 14 cm heart-shaped langue de chat cookie and create a one-of-a-kind “Shiroi Koibito.” The finished sweet makes an ideal travel keepsake or souvenir.
Eat and Relax: Lounge and Cafe
Chocolate Lounge Oxford
This luxurious cafe lounge offers panoramic views of the iconic clock tower, the courtyard, and even the Miyanosawa Shiroi Koibito Soccer Field. Guests can enjoy ISHIYA’s original sweets and hot chocolate in a spacious, relaxing setting. The gentle sweetness of the hot chocolate is especially recommended as a comforting drink to warm you up on a cold day.
Shop and Enjoy: Exclusive Sweets and Souvenirs
Shop Piccadilly
This spacious shop, covering about 520 square meters, offers a wide selection of standard favorites such as “Shiroi Koibito” and “Shiroi Baum TSUMUGI,” as well as many exclusive sweets available only here. One highlight is “Plumi and Ramuru’s Chocolate Story,” modeled after the chocolate fairies Plumi and Ramuru. Milk and white chocolate are packaged in a playful book-shaped box.
Walk and Enjoy: English Garden and Architectural Beauty
The courtyard of Shiroi Koibito Park is landscaped as an English garden, and in summer it is adorned with about 250 rose bushes as well as seasonal flowers. In winter, illuminations create a magical landscape. With different expressions by day and night, and throughout the seasons, there is always something new to discover on every visit.
The building known as Tudor House features a castle-like staircase lined with a red carpet, making it an excellent photo spot. Throughout the park, there are picturesque scenes that make you want to reach for your camera, including rose gardens and stone buildings.
Shiroi Koibito Park is about a 7-minute walk from Miyanosawa Station on the Sapporo Municipal Subway Tozai Line, making it easily accessible by public transportation. Parking is also available on the premises, so visitors coming by car can do so with peace of mind.
From factory tours and learning experiences to hands-on activities, tastings, and shopping, Shiroi Koibito Park is one of Hokkaido’s most popular tourist attractions, where you can fully enjoy the world of chocolate with all five senses. Packed with attractions that delight both adults and children, it offers a sweet and joyful experience for every visitor.
When you visit Sapporo, be sure to spend a special moment in this “chocolate paradise.”
