Tsuru-no-Mai Bridge
Tsuru-no-Mai Bridge in Aomori Prefecture is a 300-meter-long, the longest wooden triple-arch bridge in Japan. It spans the beautiful Tsugaru Fujimi Lake, reflecting the majestic shadow of Mount Iwaki in the background. Constructed in 1994 using Aomori's "hiba" wood, it showcases traditional Japanese architectural techniques. This bridge is beloved by many for its warmth and elegant arch design, making it a popular photography spot for tourists from across the country. The gradient of orange and red during sunset is particularly magnificent.
There is also a commercial featuring actress Sayuri Yoshinaga, further drawing attention to the bridge. It is often referred to as "the long wooden bridge" or "the longevity bridge," and is considered a power spot for good fortune and longevity. Together with the Tsuchidate Crane Nature Park and Fujimi Lake Park, it is highly recommended for many visitors. However, please note that the bridge will be closed for major renovations from September 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024, so be sure to check in advance before planning your visit.
