Senbutsu Limestone Cave
The Senbutsu Cave is a magnificent cave located in Hiraodai, Kitakyushu, and it has been designated as a national natural monument. This cave was formed by the erosion of groundwater typical in limestone areas, winding approximately 900 meters in length. The interior maintains a comfortable environment with a year-round temperature of 16°C and water temperature of 14°C, making it cool in summer and warm in winter, and visitors can see various sizes of stalactites and stalagmites. Near the entrance, around 30 impressive stalactites hang down, captivating tourists.
As you progress through the cave, you can wash your feet in clear water while continuing your exploration, providing a thrilling adventure experience. Specifically, from about 480 meters in, there is a walking course through the water. This underground exploration is popular among a wide range of age groups, from children to the elderly.
