Ryugado Cave
Ryugadō is one of Japan's representative limestone caves, formed over approximately 175 million years, with a total length of around 4 kilometers. It is located in Kami City, about a 40-minute drive from Kochi City, and has been designated as a national natural monument and historical site. About 1 kilometer of the cave is open to the public, allowing visitors to enjoy its mysterious landscapes. Near the exit, there are traces of a dwelling from the Jomon period, and particularly notable is the "God's Jar," a Jomon pottery piece encased in stalagmites, which is rare in the world. The recently opened adventure course allows visitors to crawl through narrow paths and climb wooden ladders, providing an experience of complete darkness. In the adjacent Rare Bird Center, you can also see the Nagasaki crow, a national special natural monument.
