Harimaya Bridge
Harimaya Bridge is a sightseeing spot in Kochi, celebrated in the "Yosakoi Bushi" song, and is the setting for the love story of the monk Junshin and his daughter Ouma. It is said to have originated during the Edo period when the wealthy merchants Harimaya and Hiraya built a private bridge for mutual access. Over time, the bridge has been rebuilt several times and became widely known for its characteristic vermilion railings from the Showa era. Today, it is maintained as "Harimaya Bridge Park," a waterfront park that is popular among tourists. On the east side, there is a mechanical clock that entertains visitors with a mechanism that reveals figures of Ryoma and Katsurahama in sync with the melody of the Yosakoi Bushi.
