Marugame Castle
Marugame Castle, boasting a history of 400 years, is a renowned stone castle located in Marugame City, Kagawa Prefecture. Built on Kameyama Mountain at an elevation of about 66 meters, this castle is one of only 12 remaining wooden castles in Japan, featuring the smallest three-tiered three-story donjon. The beauty of the stone walls, known as "Ogi no Kabayaki," that surround the entire castle is breathtaking, particularly appealing in harmony with the seasonal scenery. Selected as one of Japan's 100 Famous Castles, it stands as a symbol of Marugame City, where visitors can enjoy strolling and sightseeing while feeling the weight of history.
