Detailed Information

Noritake Garden is a complex cultural facility developed on the former site of the head office and factory in Nagoya’s Nishi Ward by Noritake, the world-renowned ceramics manufacturer, to commemorate its 100th anniversary. Founded in 1904 as Nippon Toki Kaisha, Ltd., Noritake was a pioneer in Western tableware production in Japan and succeeded in creating the country’s first full-fledged dinner set.

At Noritake Garden, the company operates with the aim of widely sharing its long history, cultivated skills, products, and the value of ceramic culture at its place of origin. With the concept of “Encounter culture, relax in the garden,” the entire facility offers visitors the chance to experience ceramic culture while spending time leisurely in a lush green environment, making it one of Nagoya’s leading industrial tourism attractions.

Craft Center and Hands-on Facilities
The Craft Center, the central facility on the grounds, is a building where visitors can experience Noritake’s techniques and traditions up close. Here, you can observe the manufacturing process from bone china body production to decoration, and watch skilled artisans perform their delicate handwork at close range.
On the second floor of the Craft Center, there is a painting experience area where visitors can freely paint white bone china plates and mugs to create one-of-a-kind original pieces. As no reservation is required, it is a popular activity for all ages, from children to adults.
For those who wish to learn ceramic painting in a more authentic setting, a premium painting experience is also available, with direct instruction from Noritake master painters (ceramic painting technicians). Even beginners can complete a refined work in a single session, making it a special program.

Noritake Museum
The third and fourth floors of the Craft Center house the Noritake Museum, which exhibits many historically and culturally valuable works, including “Old Noritake.” Through early products, rare design drawings, and dinnerware from past eras, visitors can learn about Noritake’s approximately 120-year history in the context of the times.
One highlight is the display of about 200 dinner plates reflecting the characteristics of each era, a section that symbolizes the development of Western tableware culture in Japan.

Shop, Restaurant, and Cafe
On the grounds, there is Noritake’s directly operated shop, Noritake Square Nagoya, offering a wide selection of products including Noritake tableware, table settings, kitchen goods, and gifts. Its extensive lineup ranges from outlet items to giftware. In the store’s event space, workshops and seminars themed around “a comfortable lifestyle” are also held regularly.
In addition, there are restaurants and cafes within the park where dishes are served on actual Noritake tableware, allowing visitors to enjoy the harmony of ceramics and cuisine through creative French dishes, light meals, and tea time.

Historic Buildings and a Nature-Filled Park
Within Noritake Garden, a red-brick building constructed in 1904 has been preserved. As the first factory of Nippon Toki Kaisha, Ltd., it conveys the beginnings of Western tableware production in Japan to the present day.
The grounds also feature the six-chimney monument symbolizing the former factory site, a fountain plaza, and green spaces, creating a quiet and tranquil atmosphere despite being in the heart of the city. It is a precious place of relaxation in Nagoya where visitors can stroll while enjoying the beauty of each season.

A Cultural Tourist Spot for Everyone
Noritake Garden is fully barrier-free, allowing people of all ages and physical abilities to use the facility with peace of mind. With factory tours and hands-on experiences, museum visits, shopping, dining, and leisurely walks, it offers a variety of ways to enjoy a full day at a relaxed pace.
Noritake Garden is a place where the charm and history of Noritake, a world-famous Western tableware brand, are brought together, and it is one of Nagoya’s representative cultural and industrial tourism facilities, beloved not only by tourists but also by local residents.
