Detailed Information
KidZania Tokyo is a career- and social-experience facility for children ages 3 to 15, located inside Urban Dock LaLaport Toyosu in Toyosu, Koto City, Tokyo. As a “city where children are the main characters,” where kids can take on real jobs according to their interests and learn how society works while having fun, it is beloved by many families.
This city is recreated at about two-thirds the scale of the real world, and the experience facilities called pavilions are provided and operated by actual companies. In a realistic urban setting featuring an airport, hospital, restaurants, construction sites, and more, children can experience around 100 different activities using uniforms and tools that look just like the real thing.
How the city works and how to enjoy it
The entrance to KidZania Tokyo is designed to resemble a real airplane, creating an atmosphere like an airport check-in counter. Upon entry, guests receive a “City Map” and a “Job Schedule Card,” and children use these to move freely around the city while looking for the pavilions they want to experience. Checking the official website in advance for activity details will help make the visit smoother and more enjoyable.
Each activity lasts about 30 minutes on average, and some require registration or reservations. As a reward for their work experience, children receive the exclusive currency “Kidzos,” which can be deposited in a bank account, or used to receive goods and services.
Popular job experiences
Fire Station
Children can go out to a fire scene as firefighters and experience firefighting with water hoses. Riding in a fire truck while wearing realistic protective gear is especially popular.
Hamburger Shop
As kitchen staff, children actually make hamburgers. In some cases, they can even taste the hamburger they made themselves.
Construction Site
Children can operate cranes, stack materials, and work together with others to build large structures.
Airplane (Cabin Attendant)
Children can learn about the airline industry in a fun way, including in-flight announcements, meal service, and explanations of emergency equipment.
Newspaper Company
As reporters, children cover stories around the city and create articles on a computer. The finished article is printed and can be taken home.
Car Life Support Center
As mechanics, children challenge themselves by changing tires and batteries, adjusting engines, and helping ensure vehicle safety.
Beauty Salon
As beauty consultants, children can give skincare advice, experience makeup, and try nail art.
Opportunities for learning and growth
At KidZania Tokyo, through job experiences, children naturally learn many things such as the meaning of work, the role of society, and teamwork. There are many opportunities to cooperate with children of different ages, which also helps foster independence and social skills.
In addition, by using the rewards they earn (Kidzos) to experience shopping and services, children can gain a hands-on understanding of how the economy works. If they open a bank account, they can also manage their Kidzos with a dedicated cash card.
How adults can enjoy it
At KidZania Tokyo, participation in activities is generally limited to children, but parents can watch their children’s experiences through glass or via monitors. Photography and video recording are also allowed, so you can preserve precious memories.
The facility also includes rest areas, restaurants, and a viewing lounge for parents, creating a comfortable environment for adults as well.
KidZania Tokyo is a “city where children are the main characters,” where kids can have fun, learn, and grow. In a realistic urban setting with authentic job experiences, children can naturally develop an understanding of society, the significance of work, and independence. This facility, where learning and play come together, is a perfect experiential entertainment spot for families to visit together.
