SCMAGLEV and Railway Park
One of the main attractions is the zone operated by JR Central, which showcases the cutting-edge technology of the superconducting maglev. It uses experiential devices and models to explain the principles of operation and levitation. Additionally, a mini-theater offers a simulated experience at a speed of 500 km/h.
Don't miss the one of Japan’s largest railway dioramas, which meticulously recreates the landscape along the Tōkaidō Shinkansen line, allowing visitors to experience a full 24 hours of railway activity. The driving simulator for the Shinkansen “N700” provides a lifelike experience with a full-size driver's cabin, enabling even non-drivers to enjoy the feeling of speed within the exhibition hall.
Visitors are allowed to bring their own meals, but enjoying a bento purchased at the museum inside the N700 series Shinkansen on outdoor display is a special experience. There is also a kid’s space, making it a great place for families to enjoy together.
This museum not only explains technology but also offers a multifaceted look at the cultural and social impacts of railways, making it a venue for knowledge and experiences that can be enjoyed across generations. Discover the allure of new railways at the Linear Railway Museum.
