Matsue Castle
Matsue Castle is one of the 12 existing tenshu in Japan and was designated as a national treasure in 2015. It is also known as "Chidori Castle," and its black main keep beautifully contrasts with the changing seasons. From the keep of Matsue Castle, visitors can enjoy a stunning 360-degree view of the city and Lake Shinji, captivating tourists. The construction began in 1607 under the supervision of Horio Yoshiharu and was completed in 1611 after five years. It is characterized by a practical and sturdy design focused on actual combat, and the techniques used in the stone walls and the structure of the keep have maintained their dignity even after more than 400 years.
