Hotokuji Temple

Hōtokuji is a historic temple founded during the Muromachi period. It is particularly famous for the "momiji on the floor" seen in the main hall, which is open to the public only during the spring, summer, and autumn seasons. In spring, the temple is adorned with fresh green foliage and peony flowers, while in summer, the "Fuurin Matsuri" features 3,000 wind chimes decorating the grounds. In autumn, it is known for its beautiful foliage as the "Momiji Jōdo." The unique monthly goshuin (temple seals) are also popular. The temple grounds are beautifully maintained, featuring stunning stone gardens and karesansui (dry landscape) gardens, and the fusuma-e (sliding door paintings) in the main hall, titled "Shishi Yūyū no Zu," is quite impressive.
