Kaijouji Eitaikurashiryoukan (Tetsu no Kujirakan)
Kure Maritime Museum (commonly known as the "Museum of Iron Whale") is the only museum in Japan where you can enter an actual submarine. Here, the submarine "Akishio," which was operated by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, is displayed outdoors, and visitors can tour and experience the interior. The command seat, periscope, and crew quarters are recreated, allowing you to experience the environment and life onboard during a dive. There is also a café on the first floor that serves “Akishio Curry,” which is a popular menu item. It is also recommended to visit in conjunction with the nearby Yamato Museum.
