Numazu Deep Sea Aquarium
Numazu Deep Sea Aquarium is the only aquarium in Japan that showcases deep-sea creatures from Suruga Bay. The deepest part of Suruga Bay reaches 2,500 meters, making the "Suruga Bay Large Tank," which displays creatures captured from this area, and the "Deep Sea Planetarium," where 150 glowing fish swim, must-see attractions. The biggest highlight is the exhibition of the "living fossil" coelacanth, with two frozen specimens and three mounted specimens displayed, making it the only place in the world to see them. These specimens were captured by the Japan Coelacanth Research Expedition in 1981 and are extremely rare. At the museum shop "Blue Jelly," you can purchase goods related to deep-sea creatures. It is a spot where you can experience the wonders of the deep sea and enjoy it from children to adults.
