Noboribetsu Onsen
Noboribetsu Onsen is well-known for its abundant hot water and diverse mineral springs, making it extremely popular in Japan. It is particularly referred to as the "department store of hot springs," offering nine varieties of unique baths. At Hell Valley and Oyunuma, you can enjoy nature while experiencing the scent of sulfur and the eruption of hot water. Hell Valley was created by a massive eruption around 10,000 years ago and has been designated as a Hokkaido Heritage site. Around the area, you'll find monuments of ogres and a mix of modern hotels and traditional ryokans along the tributary of the Noboribetsu River, allowing you to enjoy hot springs while taking in beautiful views. Additionally, at the bear ranch, you can see brown bears up close. The types of hot springs, including sulfur springs and hydrogen sulfide springs, are plentiful and effective for skin whitening and fatigue recovery. Karurusu Onsen is also nearby, known historically as a medicinal hot spring. It is easily accessible from Sapporo and Hakodate, making it a representative hot spring area in Hokkaido.
