Detailed Information
Hitachi Seaside Park is a national park established by the Japanese government in Hitachinaka City, Ibaraki Prefecture, to meet the growing and diversifying recreational needs of the Tokyo metropolitan area. Covering a total area of 350 hectares, approximately 61 percent, or 215.2 hectares, is currently open to the public. With the theme “Sea, Sky, and Greenery—A Refreshing, Healthy Experience,” the park is designed to make the most of its distinctive natural features, such as woodlands, grasslands, dunes, coastal areas, and springs. Its scale and facilities are expected to make it one of the world’s leading parks.
▸ Beautiful flowers bloom throughout the seasons!
Surrounded by flowers and greenery, Hitachi Seaside Park spans about 215 hectares of open grounds divided into seven areas, offering leisure spots and flower fields where visitors can enjoy nature. In spring, daffodils, tulips, and nemophila bloom. In summer, roses, zinnias, and sunflowers. In autumn, kochia and cosmos add seasonal color, delighting everyone who visits.
▸ A must-see: nemophila and kochia
Hitachi Seaside Park offers a wide variety of flowers throughout the year. Among its many highlights, the spring nemophila and autumn kochia are especially unmissable. The sight of some 5.3 million blue nemophila flowers spreading across the vast Miharashi no Oka hill is like stepping into a fantasy world. In autumn, the fluffy kochia turn red, painting the entire landscape a vivid crimson.
▸ Packed with fun, from cycling to events!
Hitachi Seaside Park also features cycling courses, allowing visitors to explore the vast grounds by bicycle. In addition, there is a BMX course, a forest athletic playground, a barbecue area, and even an amusement park called Pleasure Garden, offering a wide range of attractions. With various events held throughout the year, there is always something new to enjoy, no matter how many times you visit.
