Akiyoshi Cave

Akiyoshi Cave

Akiyoshidai, one of Japan's largest karst plateaus, is a special natural monument located in Mine City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, designated as a national park in 1955. The vast grasslands are dotted with white limestone, creating a landscape that resembles a flock of sheep. This area, which was formed as a coral reef approximately 350 million years ago, is home to numerous "doline" and massive limestone caves that have developed over long periods. Notably, Akiyoshido Cave boasts an impressive scenery stretching about 10 kilometers. The natural beauty of the changing seasons captivates visitors.
